Cheryl Bowman's Story

Cheryl Bowman was born in 1958 at Duval Medical Center. It was a Friday, but she doesn’t recall the details about how much she weighed or what time of day she was born.

Bowman loves working at UF Health Jacksonville, where she has worked since 1988. She remembers a day in 1989 when she had a brain aneurism while at work. Bowman was rushed to the ER and then into an operating room.

Neurosurgeon Carlos Arce, MD, and a team of nurses and other health care providers took excellent care of her.

“I was in the hospital for two whole weeks,” Bowman said.

Bowman’s last three children were all born at the same hospital she was born, then called University Hospital. She is grateful for the great care that she and her children received.
